A systematic plan that one adheres to.
“Every weekend you try something new for the first time is a sign of a good weekend.” A sweet friend of mine recently said to me after scaling a 40-foot wall dispersed with germy hand grips. This resonated with me because I am an individual of routine, planning, and a well-thought-out regimen for anything you can speak of.
On a physiological level, learning a new skill stimulates neurons. This allows impulses to travel across the brain faster. Cue PTSD for dental students who were so fortunate to use bone saws to crack open cadaver skulls and visualize landmarks on the human brain. There is great value in doing something new, aside from making this organ happier, healthier, and smarter.
My intention is to remind likeminded individuals to toss your weekly planner to the side, and to mute your obnoxious daily phone alarm. Spontaneity not only benefits your individual well-being, but also can improve your friendships, relationships, and brain capacity.
